Check out the Highlights of November here
I’m not happy with one color… I want a rainbow (although sometimes I do find satisfaction through the lens of my shiny white wine glass!)

Who needs Paris when you have Bordeaux?
Situated in the South East of France, Bordeaux is, in fact, a “Paris in miniature”. Elegance, savoir-faire, arts and museums make this city a better alternative for those of you looking for space (and quiet time to think).
And yes, Bordeaux even has its own Musée des Beaux-Arts, a small but bold arts museum located in the city center. So instead of traveling to Paris, this week I decided to see more of what’s right under my nose…
Surprise! I found a lovely collection of European paintings and sculptures, which is spread over the two wings of the Bordeaux Museum of Fine Arts – well, one wing was closed and it’s only kept open on Sundays.
A marble statue of Apollo by Lemot & Cortot
From the 15th through the 20th century, I was able to look at some great highlights of European art history. What a treat, and so close to my apartment! I believe most of the pieces are also exhibited online, on their website.
Art installations by Atelier Franck Tallon (museum garden)
I was also pleasantly surprised to find an exhibit on Matisse and the series M “Themes and Variations”, a set of seven drawings by the artist which represent a declination of still lives of flowers and fruits. They were offered by the artist to the museum in 1943.
Henri Matisse by his friend Albert Marquet, 1899
I really enjoyed my time at the Musée des Beaux-Arts this week and I’m looking forward to checking out the other wing on a Sunday. My friend and I spent most of the time admiring a slideshow of drawings by Matisse, as well as reading poetry…
For more information on the museum and its history, I also found this page on the website. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did! (You might need to translate it into English).
Bisous and happy Friday Heirloom!
